Judith Retensky

Judith received her formal training in art and social sciences at The School of Visual Arts and New York University, in New York City. She began her business career in 1980 in the advertising industry, and spent over 15 years working to create business strategies built on consumer insight. Her career spans four major US agencies – MVBMS/Euro RSCG, Bates, Bozell and J. Walter Thompson, where she was Senior Vice President & Director of Brand Planning. Judy has served a broad range of clients/industries, from Warner-Lambert and Avis to Campbell Soup and Hyundai.

Judy founded her own independent consultancy in 1998, leveraging the research and strategic analysis skills gained from nearly two decades of experience in the agency environment. Her practice is focused on helping clients solve the range of problems involved in effective marketplace persuasion and imagery management – including brand strategy/positioning development, advertising development and evaluation, brand extendibility/leverage assessment, corporate identity work and name research/development. Her services are highly valued by major companies spanning a range of industries – from The Coca-Cola Company, Dow Jones and Texaco to Prudential Securities, Phillips Electronics, United States Tennis Association and Red Lobster. Her practice is both domestic and international.

In addition to providing a full range of qualitative research services, Judy is an expert in ethnographic research, and leads ideation sessions for business planning and decision making. Judy also consults with clients to formulate comprehensive business learning strategies that combine qualitative research and quantitative analysis. She is so well respected that she has functioned as the "research department" for many clients in times of need.
