Rose Marie Fontana
Dr. Fontana has been providing strategic qualitative research services since 1992. Rose Marie brings a unique set of skills and a varied background to her work as a qualitative researcher. A former K-12 educator, Rose Marie was raised in East Los Angeles in a bilingual/bicultural home, majored in Spanish, and obtained her M.A.T. in Spanish at UC Irvine. In 1996 Rose Marie completed her doctorate at Stanford University in Language, Literacy and Culture. For the past thirteen years Rose Marie has worked as a focus group moderator, interviewer, and ethnographer in General Market and Hispanic research. Rose Marie brings enthusiasm and energy to her work as a qualitative researcher, and she consistently focuses on the key motivations and beliefs that will strengthen a brand, position, product, or service. She is especially skillful in drawing out women and children, and is able to move effortlessly between languages, as needed or desired by the respondents.
Her clients have been numerous and varied, ranging from Stanford University and The Center for Disease Control, to AARP and Belcorp, a multinational cosmetics company. With her background in sociolinguistics and anthropology, she has played a major role in helping clients develop branding positions and communication strategies for General Market and Hispanic consumers.
